Due to mundane problems, we don't have a Friday night cook. Anyone out there who would like to cook Friday night please contact me.
So far, the people who have signed up to eat with us we have allergies to onions and mushrooms.
Monday night: Shepherd stew, sweetbreads, salad
Tuesday night: Pork chops, Veggies, salad, chicken for those requesting it.
Wednesday night: middle eastern - more info later
Thursday night: Chicken fajitas a la Sven :)
Friday night: open
Saturday night: Crazy potluck : we generally heat up everything we have and everyone adds anything they want to donate (so you don't have to take it home).
The cooks are responsible for getting their clean up crews and getting the clean up done that night. We will use disposable eating gear. On Saturday, we would appreciate everyone helping to clean and pack the kitchen for the trip home. I will have my camp stove available for Sunday breakfast.
During the day the kitchen will be available to anyone who wishes to cook breakfast or lunch or snacks - just clean up after yourself.

Re: Gulf War kitchen
Tue, March 4, 2008 - 1:59 PMWe are cooking for 30-35. Yes, Caladin, you can get in.:) It is $40.00. That's $35.00 for 6 suppers and $5.00 for the trailer. The trailer fee includes the gas to haul the trailer, the propane for cooking, basic cooking supplies, disposables (plates, forks, napkins, paper towels, trash bags, etc.). I'm assuming we will take up a collection after we get there for firewood and propane for the torch lights and tiki torch fuel. There's a guy who delivers fireword by the cord or partial cords to your camp site. If there is any $$ left over from the cooking/trailer hauling fund it will go to the general camp fund.
If you have an extra icechest, please bring it - they really help out in the kitchen. Please mark it with your name so we can make sure it will get home.
We will collect the supper $$ at the war.
We will serve about 6-6:30 each evening. Wednesday is the Ansteorran Chili night and it starts at 7 or 8pm. On Wednesday we have 3 Amazons cooking supper. Friday at 5pm we're having an Amazon meeting and get together for Regina. If we switched the meals on those days then the girls couldn't make the meeting...sorry.
Caladin, if you can do it on Friday, I can rustle up some cooking help for you. -

Re: Gulf War kitchen
Wed, March 5, 2008 - 2:58 PM
I don't understand.... is it possible to cook without bacon?
Seriously though this was my proposed menu..
Elgin Sausages & boneless chicken breasts, both smoked over apple wood, half of the chicken with bacon and cheeze, half plain,
red potatoes, baked in bacon and onion and spices, Deutch Saurkraut, rinsed & sauteed in margerine and brown sugar, Green beans stewed with bacon, onion and spices...
but almost everything has pork or bacon or both, I dont' eat much red meat anymore, the doctor took me off it.
How many are Anti Pig, I can set aside a smaller pot of beans & taters with just margerine and spices, that would let them eat everything
except the sausages. But if you combine anti pig and anti onion in one person you might be in trouble.
Maybe I should just make spaghetti or tacos? I was really looking forward to setting up the smoker and making people drool downwind...
Jan can you let me know which you prefer? the sausage and chicken, and the spaghetti, would both be easier if i did part of the prep
at home. So any lead time i can get is helpful.
:)

Re: Gulf War kitchen
Wed, March 5, 2008 - 6:37 PMCaladin, you will have at least $150 - probably more . We are limiting it to 30-35. There are a few people who don't eat pork chops - don't know about the bacon. We have people with allergies to onions and mushrooms. Other than that, what ever you want to cook. Robert and Aaron are allergic to onions and Bryan is allergic to mushrooms...or you might just fix them something on the side without those things included. I have rounded up some young muscles to help you out. Corrine and Joe are going to do pork chops AND chicken. -

Re: Gulf War kitchen
Thu, March 6, 2008 - 7:31 AMGarlic is good, I tend to stay away from pork as much as possible but occassional bacon/sausage is ok. Everything you mentioned Cal sounds good. -

Re: Gulf War kitchen
Thu, March 6, 2008 - 2:56 PMI will give you the money as soon as I collect it and then you can get the groceries however you wish. Some people will be going to Sam's and Walmart every day of the week. If you buy and cook it ahead of time or buy any supplies, please save the receipts so I can pay you for them.
We will probably need to get bread again about 1/2 through the week. We'll figure this out when we all get there...
Thanks for doing this Caladin. -

Re: Gulf War kitchen
Thu, March 6, 2008 - 7:54 PMI've got Aaron covered on the no-onion front for Wednesday. I don't think we need a batch of no-onion chili unless you want to make a batch. I know that HE Daire is allergic to onions and I think that one of TRMs of either Trimaris or MidRealm is also allergic. I'm sure there are more who might appreciate it but I don't think it is necessary...just my opinion!
